On behalf of the Council of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA), I welcome you
to the 21st APOA Congress to be held from 29 to 31 July 2021. As concerns increased on the
uncertainties and the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Organising
Committee, led by Congress Chairman, Dr Syed Alsag off, has decided to convene it in a
The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association is a regional organisation of orthopaedic surgeons
mainly from the Asia Pacific region. To date, the APOA has 24 member chapters and more
than 60,000 orthopaedic surgeons as members of APOA.
The scientific sessions will be dedicated to all fields of orthopaedic surgery – trauma, sports
injuries, paediatric orthopaedics, orthopaedic oncology, hip, knee, spine, hand & wrist,
shoulder and elbow, foot and ankle, hand & upper limb, general orthopaedics and orthopaedic research.
The APOA Congress 2021 running on a virtual platform now will be able to attract more
world renowned leaders to participate and exchange expertise and to launch brilliant new
ideas together as well as an opportunity to the young and budding orthopaedic surgeons to
interact with experts from particularly from the region. It will present a unique chance to
share and enhance knowledge on the latest international research and developments, to
advance orthopaedic knowledge and to forge new friendships.
Congress Chairman’s Message
The Organising Committee has decided to hold the 21st APOA Congress as a fully virtual conference and the date remains the same – 29 to 31 July 2021 in view of the ongoing uncertainties on the pandemic and the rising number of COVID-19 cases both locally and globally. This is the first virtual conference for the APOA Congress.
The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) plays a pivotal role in creating a platform of communication and networking for the orthopaedic community in the Asia Pacific region and all over the world. The APOA organises this Congress to bring together orthopaedic surgeons, scientists, researchers, allied healthcare professionals, and nurses to share their expertise, experiences, and knowledge on the science and practice of orthopaedic surgery and its subspecialties in the midst of ever-developing medical management and innovations today.
The Organising Committee is committed to maintain the highest standard by using state-of-the-art technology to ensure fruitful exchanges and sharing of experience. Virtual sessions will allow live interactions and will be available on demand in the three months after the conference to registered participants.
